Semin is one of the most gifted (talent wise) players in the NHL. He can be a 45 goal scorer in the NHL with that shot of his. He just needs to want it. It seemed to me, that in the playoffs he wanted it.

I just don't think the Pens will be so fortunate to get this guy. MIN, LA, NJ, IMO

I don't know who we're going after, whether it's Parise or Semin or Weber or Suter or who the hell ever, but I'm excited. Shero is tinkering.

If PArise is after 7.5- 8M per year,I dont want we spend some much on him.. I rather have Suter or Webber for that kind of money..
Give Parise a 6M offer for 6 years and lets see ..

Despite our defensive woahs, i'm not sold on suter. Weber isn't happening. Even watching his amazing olympic run and the playoffs i'm still not sold on him... not sure why.

Parise is more of a sure bet to me for some reason. I could see suter getting a big payday and under performing. Not sucking, just not playing to what his contract is.

You know why Parise is a sure bet? Take a look at who the captain is and the fact that we just got rid of the other center. Crosby has always been promised a winger. Geno got his and we finally have the cap room and the means to get THAT GUY for Crosby. Not to mention, Crosby is about to sign his life long contract with the Pens. You think they have had discussions about getting Crosby his contract and then his winger for the rest of eternity? You bet.

I'm very leery of them overpaying for Parise or any other UFA, but just for the sake of conversation:
What would it take to get his rights?

More rumblings on Twitter this morning about Crosby working on getting Parise to the Pens.

Parise-Crosby-Dupuis would be sick.

I would not be surprised to see Shero send a 3rd today to get it wrapped up if Parise flat out tells the devils he is signing with the Pens.

How do you people think the Pens are going to get Weber? Hes Restricted. We dont have anything left to trade to NSH for him. I dont think we want to give up a jillion first round picks to sign him to an insane offer sheet, which is rarely done amongst NHL GMs for some reason anyway.

@sarmen25 Many teams want Parise, but heard he wants to go to Pens to play with Crosby. Was told they've been conniving like LeBron and Wade -- Randy Miller (@RandyJMiller)

if your are shero you almost have to get parise. you can't keep asking sid to take a discount for the team, and then give him third and fourth liners as wingers.

Parise already made 6mil this year on a on year deal. Can't see him getting anything less than 7mil.

It certainly doesn't take much to work the system:

Text from Crosby to Parise: You want to play on wing, bro?
Text from Parise to Crosby: e5
Text from Crosby to Shero: Hook it up

But, again, please no overpayment, Ray.

Especially when the reason/excuse in the past has been 'we've gotta pay the 3 Centers and MAF' and now......

Maybe Sid waits until after July 1st to see what Shero ends up doing before giving the discount.

Yeah I'm a little leery myself of giving franchise type of money to Parise. Nice player but I've never been that blown away watching him play.

What's sad is that none of this matters if Fleury plays in the playoffs next year the same way he did this year. Also, if we don't get Parise/Suter/Weber, what do we do with all of this cap space?

Thought that's why we got Vokoun. And, if we whiff on all of them, it would suck but we'd still have the makings of a good team and could still look at trade scenarios.
