Sad very sad, but seems to be a good deal for both involved.

Depends on what you think is a good deal. For a team that lacks size, losing a skilled power forward that can score admits that you intend to outscore everyone.
Feels like a step backward, but he will be a significant part of that team, and plays with his brother. $10 bucks says they go after Marc before the season starts...

gotta wish him well. i can't blame him one bit for wanting a bigger role. especially not wanting to get locked into a 10 year deal as a third banana. i hope he does well in carolina. he will be missed by most

I'll miss staal I was always pro staal, I think when he turned down 60 million his day where numbered.
I hope he continues to grow, tough to be a c on a team with Crosby and Malkin two hart trophy winners

Sure, I'd get frustrated at his uncanny ability to kill a rush by trying to pass the puck, but....... I'm........ really sad to see him go..............

Didn't want to see him go, but he pretty much forced Pittsburgh hand. I expect him to become a much better player overall in Carolina without being stuck behind Crosby and Malkin. I just don't think he's going to be playing a lot of April-May-June hockey.
By forcing Pittsburgh to trade him, they now can have a bit of money freed up to change their approach a lil bit.

Would have liked to see one more NHL player come our way in the deal, still not bad though.

Goodbye jordan.
Will never forget your effort in the Cup Finals. Unreal.
Thanks, good luck with the Wife, and in Carolina with your Bro.

I've disappointed to see him leave, but, meh, can't get all that worked up if he didn't want to be in PGH anymore.
Good luck...I guess.

Hate to see jordan go but the pens did offer him a 10 year deal. He wanted to play elsewhere. I'm shocked it happened so soon. Oh well thanks for everything jordan wish you well in carolina. Make the caps life miserable!

I concur with the sentiment about one more nhl coming back but i'm so shero has something else up his sleeve.

#SNdraft just received text coming from Staal wedding where many x teammates including 87 are attending. Nite described as "very emotional"
I have no doubt about this statement. plenty of liquor to get them through the night.

Something tells me that Jordan is going to regret today.
For starters, getting married at age 23... LOL
and then turning down 60 mil over ten years from a perennial cup chasing team.
Jordan...have you spent more than a few nights in Carolina???
You went from playing behind the second coming, and the leagues MVP to playing behind God, and NASCAR! LOL

I hope he does well (when it doesn't affect the Pens), and I really hope he doesn't end up regretting the decision. (Either of them.)

Faulk and Murphy are the flashier players but Dumourin is what this organization needs desperately on defense. We got a good return on Staal.

Can we edit this title to include "appreciation thread" - Jordan was a great player for us, a powerful force, a player that made this team as an 18 year old, a playoff warrior, he turned the tide of the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals...there might not be a June 12, 2009 without him. He stuck it out in the shadow of a shadow and was a trooper all the way through and was one of our best players in the last playoffs. Terrific player, terrific person and he will very, very, very sorely be missed by me - he's a player I appreciated from day one. This is a guy that toally gets the game and has for some time.
I wish him all the best in Carolina and I hope he has a long, illustrious career there.
