Looks like Dubas, Darche, Botterill, Greeley are the final 4. Edzo in a hockey ops role.

Everything indicates it's down to 1- Dubas. If he declines, Darche, Greeley and possibly Botterill are the fall backs.

Watch Edzo get the POHO gig. So much for us mocking Philly bringing in Jones.

President of hockey ops is the most worthless title in all of sports. Can someone please explain what their job duties are?

I guess Lou Angotti wasn’t available.

Is today the day we hear something one way or another ? With the draft coming, free agency starting July 1, they need to give the new guy a chance to formulate some plan. I fear the longer this drags on, the longer a plan can’t be put in place then we have to start panicking and giving Jarry 6 mil per just because there isn’t anytime to plan anything.

It really depends on the actual setup of power and how those above GM and POHO grant them power.

POHO could be Burke type that is more of a "just there in the background" or it could be something like Shanahan who was heavily involved in the decisions.

Also, I believe Sakic bumped up to POHO and hired a GM under him. Tell me Sakic isn't still heavily involved in GM duties.

Edzo as POHO……would be funny……dude was way over his head as coach …..and this would probably be more of the same!

FSG is treating this like a hobby…..need to get moving with or without Dubas

My favorite Edzo line….you know I was his first coach. It’s like, dude your ineptitude as a coach is the reason the Penguins got Crosby. :fist:

I've always liked Edzo as a person, but he was overextended as a coach. He's a class act and and a gentleman.

As I see it, if there’s no announcement today that means that Dubas said no and that the Pens are now negotiating with Darche, Greeley or Botteril.

I think this entire thing is a circus either way. It’s been almost a month and half. They need to **** or get off the pot. At this point we as a fan base deserve answers. This whole dog and pony show is delaying everything and will make it harder for the incoming GM (if one is ever names) to get his vision together and start working.

To be fair to FSG. They were far along and would have hired someone most likely by now, but then Dubas became available less than 2 weeks ago. I would think this gets wrapped up either way over the next couple of days.

I guess I can understand that, but on the other hand it’s been a week ago today that Dubas was reportedly in town, he should know within a week if he wants it or not. If he’s holding out for the senators job then just move along.

You'd think, by the end of the day, we'd hear something. Even if Dubas declines, you'd figure FSG had contract details/parameters set up with the previous first choice (say Darche) and would move again on that quickly.

All I can say is, if we were waiting for the gap between the conference finals and finals, it is here. Nashvile fired Hynes and hired Brunette as coach, Capitals hired Spencer Cadbury Egg as coach...both happened today.

I understand Dubas came in late, but this really should be wrapped up before the Cup finals start. All indications are that the Penguins are filling the GM spot first, and any type of POHO would come in later and be more of an advisor...not someone that is going to come in and be upset they couldn't name their own GM.

Totally agree. NBA conference championship wrapped up last night too and the Finals start Thursday. FSG is lucky they have until Saturday.

I really wonder if the candidates that are waiting for Dubas are miffed I sure as hell would be. If Dubas turns FSG down I'd definitely play hard ball negotiating my contract as their "2nd favorite".

Id love to know if Tulsky pulled himself out of the running once FSG reopened the process for Dubas? By every account I've read Tulsky killed it and FSG loved him.

Mark Madden reporting from a source Dubas is currently finalizing his contract with FSG. Has already start to put together a staff list as well

I’m very skeptical of this just because it’s a local guy reporting this. None of the credible “insiders” are saying anything about it.

I think it’s more of a figurehead role if Dubas wants full autonomy.
