Pre-Game Talk Game 7 vs Calgary

Crosby was upgraded to day-to-day yesterday by Sullivan. I didn't hear if this was official, but sounds like he could be a game time decision tonight.

Here's what the lines looked like yesterday:

Guentzel-Crosby-Rodrigues
Zucker-O’Connor-Kapanen
Aston-Reese—Blueger-McGinn
Heinen-Boyle-Simon (Lafferty mixed in)

Dumoulin-Marino
Matheson-Ruhwedel
Pettersson-Friedman (Riikola mixed in)

Carter still in COVID protocol. Might be available for Saturday game, as Sullivan said he should exit the protocol this weekend. It would not surprise me though for them to hold him out until their next game, which is Thursday, to get him a few days back on the ice to get back into game shape.

Crosby, Rust and Malkin all had an on-ice session before the morning skate begins for the team. Rust and Malkin went to the locker room, while Crosby stated on the bench while the Zamboni resurfaced the ice.

FWIW The Daily Faceoff is still showing Sid as being on IR. IMHO I don't want to see him on the ice until he's been medically cleared to play. Practices are one thing but real time games are something else.

Sullivan said he's pretty sure that Carter comes out of protocol tomorrow and believes he will join the team for practice.

Sullivan also said Letang still has symptoms. Said he called him yesterday but hadn't heard back from him.

They need to take all precautions with Letang having pre-existing health conditions.

Unrelated to tonight's lineup, Taylor Haase had a piece on Zohorna today. If you recall, one of the things Sullivan said is that Zohorna needed to work on his conditioning. I remember Zohorna being ill one game with a non-COVID illness. Turns out, they didn't know exactly what he had, but it really sapped a lot of his energy...so that appears to be the main reason he was not in game shape.

He is still not back to 100%, and working towards his conditioning. Let's hope this doesn't end up another Lukas Bengston type situation that was Lyme disease.

I see DeSmith was first goalie off the ice so he is likely in net tonight.
