GAME RECAP

Ed Olcyzk scored the go-ahead goal with 13:02 to play and Frederik Olausson and Rob Brown added insurance tallies in the final minute as the Pittsburgh Penguins remained unbeaten on their eight-game road trip with a 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks.

Alex Hicks, who had two assists, picked up a loose puck along the left boards and fed Olcyzk, who ripped a blast inside the left goalpost past Kelly Hrudey for his third goal of the season.

In 18 career games against the Sharks, Olczyk has eight goals and 10 asissts.

Olausson scored his first goal of the season into an empty net with 46 seconds remaining and Brown got his first goal 23 seconds later to cap the scoring. The goal was Brown's first in the NHL since the 1992-93 season with Chicago.

The win was sweet for former Sharks and current Penguins coach Kevin Constantine.

"I have been asked that question a thousand times, so you think I'd have a pat answer for it, but I don't. The only thing is I have a little more experience now and a few more gray hairs. And hopefully, with experience, there is wisdom," said Constantine, who coached the Sharks for 157 games between 1993 and 1996.

Jaromir Jagr chipped in a goal and two assists for Pittsburgh, which is 4-0-1 on its club-record road trip and unbeaten in six games overall. Tom Barrasso made 20 saves for Pittsburgh, which improved to 20-4 all-time against the Sharks.

"We're learning the system Kevin has put in," Penguins center Stu Barnes said. "Defense is certainly not something this team has been known for in the past. We always make sure there is a guy back all the time and the funny thing about a good defensive system is you get a lot of good offensive opportunities."

Jeff Friesen and Todd Gill scored for San Jose, which has lost four straight.

Freisen scored his second goal in as many games when he beat Barrasso off a feed from Tony Granato 1:41 into the game.

But Francis tied it with 11:06 to play in the second period. Johansson took a pass from Jagr and charged down the slot. He slipped a drop pass to Francis, whose blast from the top of the left faceoff circle beat Hrudey inside the right post for his fifth goal.

Gill one-timed a crossing pass from Owen Nolan less than four minutes later for his second goal of the season, restoring San Jose's one-goal lead.

Jagr knotted the score at two with 3:38 to play in the second. Chris Ferraro fired a lead pass to Jagr, whose initial blast was stopped by Hrudey. Jagr put back his own rebound for his third goal in as many games and fifth this season.

Hrudey stopped 21 shots and fell to 0-3 this season.

The Sharks are 0-for-34 on the power play over their last seven games.

"It's unacceptable ... we have to get more pucks to the net and get hungrier around the net," Friesen said. "That's a big part of why we're not winning hockey games. Tonight our penalty killers did a good job, but our power-play did not come through."
