Penguins lose 3-1 to Canucks (22-Nov-2008)
The Penguins lose a rare afternoon game 3-1 to Vancouver in front of 17,040 at Mellon Arena. The game started with a Matt Cooke hip-check which then led to two fights and Cooke and Vancouver's Jannik Hansen being tossed from the game 25 seconds in. Canucks goaltender, Roberto Luongo, left the game near the five-minute mark of the first as he was injured making a routine save. Vancouver got goals from Pavol Demitra in the first and Daniel Sedin in the second. Mike Zigomanis made it interesting with his second of the season 22 seconds into the third but the Pens were unable to tie it and the Canucks added a Pavol Demitra empty-netter.

Penguins defeat Thrashers 3-2 (20-Nov-2008)
The Penguins get a late Petr Sykora power-play goal and defeat Atlanta 3-2 in front of 13,391 at Philips Arena. Pittsburgh scored in each period getting a Miroslav Satan in the first and Sidney Crosby's seventh of the year in the second period. Crosby also had two assists for a three-point night.

The Penguins December practice schedule has been released. The team has eight open practices at Iceoplex.

Pens lose 2-1 to Wild in shootout (18-Nov-2008)
The Penguins' six-game winning streak comes to an end with a 2-1 shootout loss to Minnesota in front of 16,971 at Mellon Arena. The Wild's lone regulation goal was actually scored by Mike Zigomanis who backhanded the puck past Dany Sabourin off of a faceoff at 7:57 of the first period. Pittsburgh struck back quickly with a Matt Cooke goal 10 seconds later. After a scoreless second, third and overtime period, the game went to a shootout where Marek Zidlicky scored the only goal to give Minnesota the win.

Fleury injured; Curry recalled (18-Nov-2008)
Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury will miss tonight's game against Minnesota because of an undisclosed injury. Fleury is listed as "day-to-day."

The Penguins have recalled goaltender John Curry from WBS to back up Dany Sabourin.

The Penguins notch four goals in the final period to defeat Buffalo 5-2 in front of 17,132 at Mellon Arena. Pittsburgh trailed 2-1 heading into the third period but then got goals from Alex Goligoski (PP), Ruslan Fedotenko and two from Jordan Staal including an empty-netter.

The Penguins have re-assigned forward Paul Bissonnette to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Penguins beat Flyers 5-4 in shootout (14-Nov-2008)
The Penguins blow a 3-0 lead but defeat the Flyers 5-4 after a shootout in front of 17,132 at Mellon Arena. Pittsburgh built a three-goal lead early in the second but then saw Philadelphia score four times in the second including two shorthanded Simon Gagne goals. Sidney Crosby got his second goal of the game late in the third to send it to overtime and eventually a shootout. It took six rounds before Alex Goligoski converted the lone goal of the shootout to give the Pens the 5-4 victory.

Jordan Staal scores three times in the third period to help the Pens overcome a three-goal third period deficit and then steals the puck and assists on Ruslan Fedotenko's overtime winner as the Pens beat Detroit 7-6 in front of 20,066 at Joe Louis Arena.

Pens hold on to defeat Oilers 5-4 (7-Nov-2008)
The Penguins defeat the Oilers 5-4 after jumping out to a 5-0 lead in front of 16,971 at Mellon Arena. Pittsburgh looked to have an easy win after getting two goals from both Miroslav Satan and Petr Sykora and a shorthander from Max Talbot. Edmonton pulled goaltender Mathieu Garon for Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers who went on to stop all 14 shots he faced. Edmonton then went on a four-goal run from the end of the second through the middle of the third period but were unable to tie the game.
