The Pittsburgh Penguins' November 2018 Practice Schedule has been released. The Penguins have eleven open practices at the Lemieux Sports Complex in November.
Penguins beaten 6-3 by Islanders (30-Oct-2018)
The Penguins lose 6-3 to Isles in front of 18,509 at PPG Paints Arena. Before the game, the Pens honored the victims of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting and had two of the injured police officers drop ceremonial pucks. Pittsburgh fell behind 2-0 in the first but battled back to end the period tied 2-2. New York put the game away in the second with three goals, two from Jordan Eberle. Matt Murray was pulled after the first Eberle goal.
Penguins blank Canucks 5-0 (27-Oct-2018)
The Penguins beat Vancouver 5-0 in front of 17,537 at Rogers Arena. Pittsburgh ends their Canadian road trip with a perfect 4-0 record. Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin each scored twice. Phil Kessel also scored for the Pens. Casey DeSmith had a 29-save shutout.
Penguins crush Flames 9-1 (25-Oct-2018)
The Penguins destroy Calgary 9-1 in front of 17,834 at Scotiabank Saddledome. Pittsburgh scored three times in the first period, four in the second and only two in the third. Patric Hornqvist and Phil Kessel each scored twice. Matt Murray turned in a 38-save effort.
Penguins defeat Oilers 6-5 in OT (23-Oct-2018)
The Penguins beat Edmonton 6-5 in overtime in front of 18,347 at Rogers Place. Sidney Crosby scored his second of the night at 2:12 of overtime on a beautiful individual effort. Jamie Oleksiak also scored twice and Patric Hornqvist notched his first of the season. Matt Murray turned in a 41 save effort.
Penguins blank Maple Leafs 3-0 (18-Oct-2018)
The Penguins beat Toronto 3-0 in front of 19,483 at Scotiabank Arena. Evgeni Malkin scored the eventual game-winner at 11:42 of the first on the power play. Pittsburgh then added to empty-net goals from Malkin and Kris Letang. Matt Murray returned to action and had a 38-save shutout.
Penguins lose 3-2 to Canucks in overtime (16-Oct-2018)
The Penguins lose 3-2 in overtime to Vancouver in front of 18,492 at PPG Paints Arena. Pittsburgh got the game-opener from Jake Guentzel at 6:24 of the first. Vancouver scored twice in the first to take a 2-1 lead which held until the 16:46 mark of the third when Carl Hagelin tied it. Brock Boeser won it for the Canucks 34 seconds into overtime.
Penguins lose in shootout to Montreal 4-3 (13-Oct-2018)
The Penguins lose after shootout 4-3 to the Canadiens in front of 21,302 at Centre Bell. Pittsburgh held a 2-0 lead after the first on goals from Dominick Simon and Kris Letang. Montreal scored three in the second to go up 3-2 before Phil Kessel scored on the power play at 11:14 of the second. After a scoreless third and overtime, the game went to a shootout where Paul Byron and Jonathan Drouin scored on Casey Desmith while Antti Niemi stopped Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Casey DeSmith got his second start of the season and stopped 37 of 40 shots faced.
Penguins defeat Vegas 4-2 (11-Oct-2018)
The Penguins get a hat trick from Phil Kessel and win 4-2 over Vegas in front of 18,610 at PPG Paints Arena. Pittsburgh fell behind 1-0 in the first but then got a natural hat trick from Phil Kessel and another goal from Jake Guentzel. Evgeni Malkin had a three-assist night. Casey DeSmith got his first start of the season for the injured Matt Murray and stopped 35 of 37 shots faced.
Penguins beaten easily by Canadiens 5-1 (7-Oct-2018)
The Penguins lose 5-1 to Montreal in front of 18,622 at PPG Paints Arena. Pittsburgh trailed by 2 after the first, 3 after the second and 4 at the final whistle. Riley Sheahan scored the lone Pittsburgh goal. Kris Letang assisted and passed Paul Coffey for the most points by a defenseman in Penguins history (441).
Penguins open 2018-19 season with 7-6 overtime win over the Capitals (4-Oct-2018)
The Penguins get an overtime power play goal from Kris Letang to beat the Capitals 7-6 in front of 18,627 at PPG Paints Arena. Pittsburgh blew a two-goal third period lead when TJ Oshie scored twice in 21 seconds but Letang notched his second of the night 1:20 into overtime for the win. Oleksiak, Guentzel (2), Brassard and Malkin also scored for the Pens.
