Penguins blank Hurricanes 3-0 (31-Oct-2010)
The Penguins get a 33-save shutout from Brent Johnson and defeat Carolina 3-0 in front of 18,680 at RBC Center. Pittsburgh got two goals from Pascal Dupuis and one from Max Talbot. Johnson got his 14th career shutout and is now 5-0-1 this season with a .960 save percentage and a 1.16 goals against average.

Penguins lose 3-2 to Flyers (29-Oct-2010)
The Penguins power play goes 0-for-6 as the Pens lose 3-2 to the Flyers in front of 18,275 at CONSOL Energy Center. Pittsburgh opened the scoring with a Kris Letang goal off of an Evgeni Malkin feed at 8:12 of the first. Philadelphia got a shorthander from Claude Giroux and a Daniel Carcillo goal to make it 2-1 after two. Giroux got the eventual game-winner on the power play at 10:43 of the third. Tyler Kennedy made it interesting with a late tally but the Pens were unable to tie the game in the final minute.

The Penguins have released their November practice schedule at Iceoplex. The Pens have eight open practices in November.

The Penguins have unveiled their 2011 Winter Classic jersey.


Penguins lose 5-3 to Tampa Bay (27-Oct-2010)
The Penguins get two shorthanded goals on the same Lightning power play but lose 5-3 in front of 17,226 at St. Pete Times Forum. Pittsburgh gave up a goal on the first shot Marc-Andre Fleury faced but responded with Craig Adams and Matt Cooke shorthanders early in the first. Pascal Dupuis made it 3-1 which chased Tampa Bay goalie Mike Smith. The Lightning scored the game's remaining four goals as replacement goaltender Mike Smith turned aside all 24 shots he faced.

Penguins lose 1-0 to Blues in overtime (23-Oct-2010)
The Penguins lose 1-0 to the Blues in overtime in front of 19,150 at the Scottrade Center. Jaroslav Halak stopped 31 Pittsburgh shots while Brent Johnson made 23 saves on 24 shots. Only St. Louis' Erik Johnson was able to score doing so 50 seconds into overtime.

Penguins defeat Predators 4-3 in overtime (21-Oct-2010)
The Penguins defeat the Predators 4-3 on a Kris Letang overtime goal in front of 17,113 at Bridgestone Arena. Pittsburgh trailed three times in the game before Sidney Crosby tied the game at the 12:56 mark of the third period. Crosby then set up Letang for the game-winner at 3:49 of overtime. Marc-Andre Fleury made 21 saves on 24 shots for his first win of the season.

Penguins win pair of games over the weekend (18-Oct-2010)
The Penguins get four points over the weekend with Brent Johnson in goal including their first win at the Consol Energy Center on Friday with a 3-2 overtime win against the Islanders. On Saturday, the Penguins got two third period power play goals from Sidney Crosby as they cruised to a 5-1 win over the Flyers.

Penguins release third jersey schedule (14-Oct-2010)
The Penguins will wear their current blue third jerseys ten times this season starting with Friday's game versus the Islanders. The team will also unveil their Winter Classic jersey by the end of October and wear those three times this season.

Penguins lose 4-3 to Toronto (13-Oct-2010)
The Penguins give up four goals on only 14 shots and lose 4-3 to Toronto in front of 18,112 at CONSOL Energy Center. The Pens had a 2-1 lead after the first period on goals from Chris Kunitz and Max Talbot but then gave up three straight in a seven and a half minute span of the second period. Evgeni Malkin missed a penalty shot late in the second and Sidney Crosby got his first of the season with just 44 seconds to go in the 2nd period. Pittsburgh is now 0-3-0 in their new building.

Penguins recall Hutchinson (12-Oct-2010)
The Penguins have recalled defenseman Andrew Hutchinson from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

D Zbynek Michalek and D Brooks Orpik are both officially listed as day-to-day with undisclosed injuries.

Penguins defeat Devils 3-1 (11-Oct-2010)
Pittsburgh gets a strong game from Brent Johnson in net and defeat New Jersey 3-1 in front of 12,880 at Prudential Center. Johnson turned in a 30 save effort on his way to the number one star of the game. The Penguins got goals from Alex Goligoski, Mark Letestu and Paul Martin (ENG).

Zbynek Michalek left the game in the middle of the second with an apparent shoulder injury and did not return.

The Penguins give up two goals 24 seconds apart late in the third period and lose 3-2 to Montreal in front of 18,106 at CONSOL Energy Center. Pittsburgh had taken a 2-1 lead in the third with a Mark Letestu goal at 8:42 but the Canadiens got goals from Mike Cammalleri and Scott Gomez to keep the Pens winless in their new building.

Penguins lose Consol Energy Center opener 3-2 to Flyers (7-Oct-2010)
The Flyers spoil the opening of the Consol Energy Center by defeating the Penguins 3-2 in front of 18,289 fans. Philadelphia rookie goaltender, Sergei Bobrovsky, was the story of the game as he made 29 saves on 31 shots and blanked the Pens through two periods. Tyler Kennedy got the first Penguins goal in the new arena to make it 2-1 early in the third but Claude Giroux scored a short-hander off a bad Kris Letang turnover for the eventual game-winner at 4:55. Alex Goligoski scored on the same power-play 19 seconds later but the Pens were unable to tie the game.

Roster moves / news (7-Oct-2010)
Some interesting roster shuffling today.

- Eric Tangradi was sent down to Wheeling but was then recalled.
- G Patrick Killeen has been recalled from Wheeling.
- Arron Asham has been placed on injured reserve.
- Kris Letang missed the morning skate with an illness and is a game-time decision.

The Pens roster section has been updated for 2010-11.

Final pre-season roster moves (6-Oct-2010)
The Penguins waived Ryan Craig and Andrew Hutchinson. Both cleared waivers and have been assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Simon Despres will be returned to his junior team, Saint John.

Jordan Staal, Casey Pierro-Zabotel and Alex Grant will be on injured reserve so the roster is now set at 23.

Pittsburgh Penguins October Practice Schedule (6-Oct-2010)
