Pens blank Ottawa 4-0 in Game 1 (10-Apr-2008)
So the answer to the "What Would Gary Roberts Do?" question is a) score the game-winner 1:08 into the game, b) score the game's last goal with 1:15 to go, and, c) challenge four Senators to fight as he's escorted off the ice near the end of the game. Yes, the 2008 Playoffs have begun with a 4-0 blanking of the Senators in front of 17,132 at Mellon Arena.

Roberts opened the scoring after knocking over a Senator behind the goal and then took a Georges Laraque rebound and scored on the backhand. Petr Sykora converted a 2-on-1 with Evgeni Malkin at 12:28 of the first to give the Pens a 2-0 lead.

After a scoreless second period, the Pens added two in the third. The first was scored by Evgeni Malkin who kicked the puck to his stick and then knocked it in. Roberts got his second of the game on a power play at 18:25.

Marc-Andre Fleury turned in a 26 save performance as the Pens killed off seven Ottawa power plays including two 5-on-3s.
