Sidney Crosby left the game after his first shift of the game due to being hit in the mouth with a deflected Brooks Orpik shot. Crosby had oral surgery after the game to repair the damage. Matt Cooke and James Neal scored for the Pens in the third period. Tomas Vokoun earned his second straight shutout with a sterling 35 save performance.

Tomas Vokoun turned in a 20-save performance to become the 26th goaltender in NHL history to record 50 shutouts. Pittsburgh got goals from Chris Kunitz, Evgeni Malkin and two from Pascal Dupuis.

Sidney Crosby scored the lone goal at 13:19 of the second period. Marc-Andre Fleury played two periods and made 25 saves before being injured at the end of the second. Tomas Vokoun played the third and stopped all 12 shots he faced.

The Penguins extend their winning streak to twelve games with an exciting 2-1 victory over the Flyers in front of 18,662 at CONSOL Energy Center. After a scoreless first period, the Flyers opened the scoring with a Claude Giroux power play goal at 14:09 of the second. Sidney Crosby tied it with a power play goal at the 13:46 mark of the third. Tyler Kennedy scored the overtime game-winner at 2:33.

The Penguins extend their winning streak to eleven games with a 4-2 victory over the Islanders in front of 14,888 at Nassau Coliseum. The Islanders dominated the first period outshooting Pittsburgh 14-3 but only managed to get a 1-0 lead after one. The Pens got goals from Joe Vitale and Chris Kunitz in the second period which ended 2-2. Brandon Sutter scored the eventual game-winner 1:46 into the third period and Pascal Dupuis added a last second empty-netter to close out the scoring.

The Penguins extend their winning streak to ten games with a 2-1 victory over the Capitals in front of 18,653 at CONSOL Energy Center. The teams trade power play goals in the second period with Alex Ovechkin and Paul Martin scoring. The turning point of the game came when the Pens killed off a four minute power play in the third period. Matt Cooke came out of the penalty box and assisted on Matt Niskanen's game-winner at 11:59 of the third period.
Penguins win pair of games over the weekend (17-Mar-2013)
The Penguins extend their winning streak to nine games with a pair of wins over the weekend. On Saturday afternoon, Marc-Andre Fleury set a new franchise shutout record at 23 as the Penguins defeated the Rangers 3-0. On Sunday afternoon, Tomas Vokoun turned in a 31 save performance as Pittsburgh defeated the Bruins 2-1. Kris Letang was injured in the first period of the Boston game and did not return. The team is calling it a "lower-body injury."
Penguins again rally late in third and defeat Maple Leafs 3-1 (14-Mar-2013)
The Penguins defeat Toronto 3-1 with their second straight late third period rally. Pittsburgh trailed 1-0 in the third when Pascal Dupuis scored his 12th and 13th goals of the season to grab the victory. Craig Adams added an empty-net goal with 10 seconds remaining.
Penguins turn three late third period goals into a 3-2 win over the Bruins (12-Mar-2013)
The Penguins score three late third goals to defeat the Bruins 3-2 in front of 18,640 at CONSOL Energy Center. Pittsburgh trailed 2-0 after the first and were outplayed through two and a half periods. The Pens got a goal from Chris Kunitz and two from Brandon Sutter in a 4:15 span late in the third to snatch the victory.
Penguins beat Maple Leafs 5-4 in shootout (9-Mar-2013)
The Penguins lose a second period 4-2 lead but end up defeating the Maple Leafs 5-4 in a shootout in front of 19,418 at Air Canada Centre. Goal scorers for Pittsburgh were James Neal, Sidney Crosby, Paul Martin and Pascal Dupuis. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped both Toronto shootout attempts while James Neal and Sidney Crosby converted theirs. Evgeni Malkin was held out of overtime and the shootout with an upper body injury.
Penguins win 5-4 over the Flyers after huge comeback (7-Mar-2013)
The Penguins turn around a 4-1 deficit after the first period into a huge 5-4 win over the Flyers in front of 19,997 at Wells Fargo Center. Pittsburgh was outshot 18-4 in the first and the game looked to be over. Tomas Vokoun replaced starter Marc-Andre Fleury after the first intermission and the comeback began. The Pens scored three in the second as they outshot Philadelphia 12-3. Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov was pulled at the second intermission for Brian Boucher. Chris Kunitz scored his second of the game and the eventual game-winner 18 seconds into the third. Vokoun ended the game with 14 saves on 14 shots and the win.

The Penguins defeat the Lightning 4-3 in Evgeni Malkin's return to action in front of 18,656 at CONSOL Energy Center. Pittsburgh trailed 2-1 after the second period but got goals from Malkin, Sidney Crosby and an empty-netter from James Neal in the third to seal the win.
