The Penguins defeat the Stars 4-3 in a shootout in front of 17,455 at American Airlines Center. The teams traded goals in the first period with Steve Sullivan netting his twelth of the season with just over a minute to go. Dallas scored late in the second to take a 2-1 lead into the third. Pittsburgh got two goals in 29 seconds early in the third to take a 3-2 lead but the Stars evened it up just over three minutes later. Pascal Dupuis scored the game-winning shootout goal in the seventh round. The Pens lost Kris Letang (listed as day-to-day upper body injury) midway through the first on a somewhat-controversial check and then lost Steve Sullivan after the second period with a lower-body injury.

Marc-Andre Fleury gets his third shutout of the season as the Penguins defeat the Rangers 2-0 in front of 18,580 at CONSOL Energy Center. Evgeni Malkin got the eventual game-winner with a nice breakaway goal at 1:05 of the second period. Malkin then notched his 400th NHL career assist as he got the primary assist on Steve Sullivan's power play goal at 11:14 of the second. Fleury now has 22 career shutouts tying Tom Barrasso for the club record.

The Penguins win a pair of games over the weekend in which they trailed both games 2-0 before coming from behind for the victories. On Saturday, the Pens trailed and then it was the Evgeni Malkin Show as he put up a five-point game with one goal and four assists in a defense-free 8-5 victory over the Winnipeg Jets. On Sunday, Pittsburgh trailed and then got two goals from Malkin and Kris Letang figurend in on all four goals as he score once and had three assists in the Pens' 4-2 win over Tampa Bay.

The Penguins lose 3-2 in a shootout to the Canadiens in front of 21,273 @ Centre Bell. Pittsburgh's first of the game was a shorthanded goal from Pascal Dupuis 1:03 into the third period which tied the game at one. Montreal recaptured the lead just under two minutes later with a Lars Eller goal. James Neal's 28th goal of the season at 7:32 eventually forced overtime and a shootout. Tomas Plekanec scored in the eighth round of the shootout and Jason Williams was stopped giving the Habs the win.
