Penguins defeat Red Wings 2-1 in shootout (31-Jan-2010)
The Pittsburgh Penguins defeat the Red Wings 2-1 in shootout in front of 17,105 at Mellon Arena. Sidney Crosby opened the scoring late in the second period with a nice forehand-to-backhand move in tight. Detroit tied the game near the middle of the third to send the game to overtime and then a shootout. Crosby and Evgeni Malkin converted their attempts and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped both Detroit attempts for the win. Pittsburgh outshot the Wings 47-24.

The Penguins lose 4-1 to the red-hot Ottawa Senators in front of 17,084 at Mellon Arena. Evgeni Malkin scored 1:34 in for Pittsburgh but the Senators got two in the first and two in the third for their eighth straight win.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forwards Chris Conner and Nick Johnson to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

Penguins defeat Rangers 4-2 (25-Jan-2010)
Chris Conner, called up earlier in the day, scores twice including the game-winner as the Penguins defeat the Rangers 4-2 in front of 18,200 at Madison Square Garden. The Rangers had a 2-1 lead near the middle of the third when the Penguins scored twice in a one-minute span thirty seconds after the Rangers second goal. Pittsburgh is now 4-0 versus the Rangers this season.

Penguins defeat Flyers 2-1 (24-Jan-2010)
The Penguins defeat the Flyers 2-1 on a late Matt Cooke power-play goal in front of 19,798 at Wachovia Center. The teams traded goals in the first period with Sergei Gonchar netting a power play goal for his 8th of the season at 14:33 of the first. Cooke's game-winner was a deflection of a Gonchar shot at 18:13 of the third.

Sidney Crosby has a six point night and Evgeni Malkin has a hat trick in Pittsburgh's 6-4 win over the Islanders in front of 16,981 at Mellon Arena. New York overcame a three goal deficit to tie the game in the third but Malkin added two power play goals including an empty-netter to seal the victory. Crosby had two goals and four assists matching his career-high for points in a game. Brent Johnson made 31 saves on 35 shots in goal.

Pens fall 6-2 to Canucks (17-Jan-2010)
The Penguins playing without their top two goaltenders lose 6-2 to the Canucks in front of 18,810 at General Motors Place. Pittsburgh entered the game with a goaltending duo of John Curry and emergency signing Alexander Pechurski. Curry surrendered 5 goals on 14 shots and was pulled for the 19 year old junior Pechurski who stopped 12 of 13 and was named the game's third star.
