Pens defeat Stars 4-3 in shootout (26-Jan-2007)
The Penguins defeat the Stars 4-3 after a shootout in front of 18,594 at American Airlines Center. Erik Christensen scored the first goal in the shootout and Marc-Andre Fleury did the rest as Fleury stopped all three Dallas shooutout attempts. Mark Recchi scored twice giving him 500 career goals. He got a nice ovation from the Dallas crowd when his milestone was announced. Jordan Staal scored the Pens' first goal of the game. The game also saw the return of defenseman Mark Eaton who missed 35 games with a wrist injury.

Pens crush Leafs 8-2 (21-Jan-2007)
The Penguins, with a Mark Recchi hat trick, crush Toronto 8-2 in front of 17,132 at Mellon Arena. Pittsburgh actually trailed 1-0 before scoring the game's next seven goals including a Jarkko Ruutu penalty shot and three Mark Recchi power play goals. Recchi added an assist for a four point night. Jordan Staal, Sidney Crosby, Michel Ouellet and Ryan Malone also scored for Pittsburgh. Evgeni Malkin had five assists in the game. The Pens ended up 5 for 10 on the power play.

Pens defeat Isles 5-2 (16-Jan-2007)
The Penguins score three times in the third period to defeat the Islanders 5-2 in front of 16,958 at Mellon Arena. Sidney Crosby and Erik Christensen each scored twice and Michel Ouellet netted the other Pens goal. The crowd was the Penguins' seventh consecutive sellout.

The Penguins have recalled defenseman Noah Welch from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins due to the injury to Josef Melichar in last night's loss to Florida.

Penguins lose 5-2 to Panthers (10-Jan-2007)
Florida, led by Olli Jokinen's hat trick, defeat the Penguins 5-2 in front of 16,098 at BankAtlantic Center. Evgeni Malkin and Colby Armstrong scored for the Pens. Jocelyn Thibault's record in net falls to 1-5-2.

Crosby voted to start in All-Star (10-Jan-2007)
Sidney Crosby led all vote-getters in the Eastern Conference and is the youngest All-Star game starter since fan balloting began in 1986.

Penguins lose 3-2 to Lightning (9-Jan-2007)
The Pens lose 3-2 to the Lightning in front of 19,226 at the St. Pete Times Forum. Sidney Crosby got Pittsburgh on the board early with a shot from one knee 24 seconds into the game. Tampa Bay scored once in each of the periods to gain a 3-1 advantage before Colby Armstrong had a shot deflect off him and in late in the third to close out the scoring. The loss was Pittsburgh's 11th in a row against Tampa Bay.

Pens lose 3-2 to Tampa Bay in shootout (7-Jan-2007)
The Penguins lose 3-2 after a shootout to the Lightning in front of 17,132 at Mellon Arena. Ryan Craig gave Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead with a rebound power play goal at 7:09 of the second period. Sidney Crosby tied it up with a highlight-reel goal with five seconds to go in the period off a 2-on-1 with Mark Recchi. Crosby slid on one knee, then on his side before tipping in Recchi's pass. (Watch the highlights.) Nick Tarnasky gave TB a 2-1 lead at 14:04 of the third. Mark Recchi was credited with the game-tying goal after a Crosby pass deflected off his skate, then a Lightning defender's skate and in. Initially, the goal was waved off but a video review allowed it. Martin St. Louis was the only player to score in the shootout giving Tampa Bay the win.

Penguins blank Carolina 3-0 (2-Jan-2007)
The Penguins, with a Sidney Crosby three point night and a Marc-Andre Fleury 31 save performance, defeat the Hurricanes 3-0 in front of 16,957 at Mellon Arena. Crosby opened the scoring with a snapshot from the bottom of the right circle at 5:36 of the first. Ryan Whitney made it 2-0 on the power play at the 36 second mark of the third period when he tipped a Mark Recchi pass in. Crosby finished off the scoring at 11:19 of the third when his attempted centering pass to Recchi deflecting in off a Canes defender.
