Pens dominated 6-3 by Senators (12-Apr-2007)
The young Penguins got a rude introduction to NHL playoff hockey as the Senators dominated the Pens 6-3 in front of 19,611 at Scotiabank Place. Ottawa took the game over early by scoring twice in the first seven minutes and outshooting the Penguins 16-4 in the first period.
The Senators had a 3-0 lead when Tom Preissing scored a power play goal at 14:38 of the second. Jordan Staal cut the lead to 3-1 with a stuff in goal at 16:58 of the second.
Ottawa added three more goals before the halfway point of the third period before Sergei Gonchar (12:42) and Sidney Crosby (19:11) put in power play goals.
Sidney Crosby also had a goal disallowed after a video review determined he had directed the puck in shortly after the Senators had made it 4-0 early in the third period. Marc-Andre Fleury gave up six goals on 36 shots before mercifully being replaced by Jocelyn Thibault.
